About Me
Good day everyone :) This is my first year of teaching here at Scales Technology Academy. However, I have been teaching in the US for ten years, eight in Maryland and going to three here in Arizona. I was hired from the Philippines by Baltimore County, MD in 2005 as a Middle School Science teacher, after my contract I was offered a position by Prince George’s County as a 4th Grade teacher ,then moved up to 6th Grade and became the Science Chairperson. My last two years teaching stint in MD was in a private school, 4th Grade. In 2013, I decided to explore the West, I landed a job in San Carlos Unified School District where I taught 5th Grade.
Before coming to the US, I was a school paper adviser and STEM coordinator in my school. I also taught in China for fourteen months.
Since my specialization in my bachelor’s degree is Science, I do have a soft spot in this subject and I may say my favorite. I always enjoy the students’ amazement when they discover/ learn things through experimentation and observation. I trained STEM Fair contestants and winners both in MD and in AZ.
On the other hand, having majored in Special Education for my Masters gave me a better perspective of every learner’s unique abilities and capabilities.
My intent as a teacher is to inspire the students to love learning, to appreciate who they are, and to set and achieve their goals.
Here are some of my students from Avalon Elementary School when they competed and won in "The Science Bowl" a TV show in Prince George's County.
